Imagine going to a party... wearing a nice suit, matching sandals, accessories, but no perfume! Ehhh...

Perfume forms one of the most important aspects of our attire, but a lot of people tend to ignore it. It is nothing but a mixture of aromatic compounds as well as certain oils, along with other solvents to provide a pleasant smell, whenever it is used. It is available in all forms like a normal perfume, deodorants, room freshener, mouth fresher and so many others. The word perfume comes from Latin "per fumum", that means through smoke.

The art of making perfumes is known as perfumery that holds its existence ancient Mesopotamia and Egypt. The art gained a lot of popularity and went through certain enhancements by the Romans and Persians.

Although, the art also has its existence in some parts of India, the connection is basically linked with incense only. The process of distillation of Attar can be studied in the Hindu text of the Ayurvedic importance. The text is known as Charaka Samhita.

Then the text named, Harshacharita, that was written in the 7th century A.D. In the northern parts of India states the use of essential fragrant oil by the Indians during that era. The oil that was mentioned is Agarwood oil. Perfumes are made up of chemicals as well as natural ingredients. Plants have long been used in perfumery as they act as a prefect natural source for providing essential oils and aroma compounds.
